WATCH: Volvo unveils V90 estate
THE latest in a long line of signature estate cars is revealed by Swedish carmaker Volvo has unveiled its new V90 estate car in advance of its first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Swedish carmaker Volvo unveiled its new V90 estate car yesterday
The Swedish brand - now owned by Chinese company Geely - revealed the car at a special event in Stockholm. It will sit alongside the XC90 SUV and S90 saloon shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January in the model range.
All are built on the are built on the company’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, the flexibility of which will enable the carmaker to exploit new opportunities, in terms of how Volvos can be designed, built and equipped.
The V90 is the latest estate car from a marque that has almost been defined by its load-luggers, stretching back to the Volvo Duett, which debuted in 1953.

“We have a very strong position in the estate segment,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars. “In many people’s minds we are known as the definitive estate brand. While the Volvo brand today stands for more than estates, we are proud to carry forward this rich heritage with the V90.”
Features of the new V90 include the company's Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving technology and a package of safety measures that is arguably the most all-encompassing on the market, including Large Animal Detection (handy for avoiding moose) and Run-off Road Mitigation.

All the latest connectivity is also fitted onboard, including smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay.
Engine options will include 2.0-litre diesels with PowerPulse technology designed to deliver a performance boost, plus the T8 petrol plug-in hybrid, which delivers around 405bhp and a pure electric range of around 31 miles.
Full details will be made public at Geneva, including prices, with deliveries starting in late summer.
