Hennessy Venom F5 specs update - Will the car be able to hit over 300mph top speed?
HENNESSEY is just days away from confirming whether or not its latest hypercar the Venom F5 will be able to hit a top speed of 300mph or not.
Hennessey will finally confirm the specs for its new hypercar the Venom F5.
The American tuning company first unveiled the Venom F5 over nine months ago to some fanfare as the firm teased that it could reach 300mph.
A picture of the car was released next to a sign that said 'SPEED LIMIT 300' which alluded to the top speed.
If the car is capable of reaching 300mph it will become a record breaker and smash the current world record top speed set by Koeninsegg last year.
The Swedish car manufacturer managed to steal the title of the Bugatti Veyron by achieving an average two-way top speed of 277.9mph.
Koenigsegg’s flagship car also managed to hit a one-way speed of 284.55mph.
It has no been reported by Motor Authority that John Hennessey and his team will reveal more specs, and even possible the final specs, for the Venom F5 at Monterey Car Week later this month.
Apparently, the car’s name is derived from the top classification for tornado ratings.
Tornados ranked F5 are those that will be able to hit speeds between 260mph and 318 mph.
Provisional specs for the car suggest that it will produce around 1,600 horsepower and over 1,700Nm of torque.
According to the Hennessey website, the car is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine.
The firm also claims a 301mph top speed will be achievable.
Hennessey also claims that the vehicle can go from 0-186mph in under 10 seconds and from zero to 249mph and back to zero in under 30 seconds.
These were the specs provided on the company site in November of last year and it will be interesting to see whether or not they change and if so, by how much.
More details about the upcoming car are slated to be confirmed at Monterey Car Week from August 17th.
