Certain Nationwide members may need to get in touch with the building society by Monday, June 8.

This follows Nationwide's confirmation that it is pressing ahead with its Fairer Share Payment scheme for the fourth consecutive year.

In an announcement on Thursday, Nationwide said that roughly 4.4 million of its members will receive a free £100 payment next month.

Nationwide explains: "We are a building society not a bank, which means we can do things differently. Unlike our banking peers, we share some of our profits with eligible members.

"We will do this by making a one-off payment of £100 to those who qualify."

Notifications sent to those eligible for the payment confirmed the money will arrive in accounts by June 30.

Should you not wish to receive the payment, however, you do have the option to decline it.

On its website, Nationwide said: "You will need to let us know, no later than June 8 by calling us on 0330 123 9734, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, Saturday between 9am and 2pm, or by visiting us in branch."

Once you have opted out of receiving the 2026 payment, you will be unable to reverse that decision.

Those who chose not to receive the Nationwide Fairer Share Payment in 2023, 2024 and/or 2025 will still need to notify Nationwide if they wish to opt out on this occasion.
