Thousands of UK households to get extra financial support from today
The Household Support Scheme has been extended by the government with additional cash help of £421 million for the most vulnerable households across the country
Thousands of households nationwide will be eligible for additional assistance through a £421 million fund from today (October 1). The government is extending the Household Support Scheme, which aims to support the most vulnerable households through the Household Support Scheme.
A total of £421 million has been allocated to local authorities to provide support, which may include vouchers and cash payments, until March 2025. Liz Kendall, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, previously stated: "We have invested an extra half a billion pounds in the Household Support Fund to give struggling families and the poorest pensioners the help they need this winter.
"As local authorities across England deliver this lifeline support to help households with the costs of feeding children and heating homes, we are continuing our work to fix the foundations of our country, grow the economy and deliver opportunities for people to get work and get on in work, so everyone feels better off."
Which households are eligible for the Household Support Fund?
The Household Support Fund (HSF), overseen by local councils in various regions, is poised to offer different levels of help based on your situation. If you're a benefits recipient, considered vulnerable, or have modest savings, you might be eligible for aid.
Previous beneficiaries of the HSF could see their eligibility for subsequent assistance affected. Local councils may reach out to explain what support is available to you.
