Tesco shoppers have just one month left to bag some extra Clubcard points. The supermarket giant is offering select customers the chance to participate in its Tesco Clubcard Challenges, potentially earning up to £50 in bonus points.

It remains unclear who will be selected for the scheme, but customers are being encouraged to keep an eye on their emails for an invitation.

Those eligible can join the scheme from now until Sunday, August 25. To earn the additional points, customers will be presented with 20 spending challenges.

However, they only need to complete 10 of these and can choose which ones to tackle via the Tesco Grocery and Clubcard app on Android and iOS devices.

The challenges will be customised based on each customer's individual spending habits, such as a requirement to spend a certain amount on vegan ready meals. In total, savvy customers could bag up to £100 of bonus Clubcard points.

While completing all challenges will net customers 5,000 Clubcard points (equivalent to £50), these can be redeemed with one of Tesco's Reward Partners, effectively doubling the points to £100. Brands included in the Reward Partner's programme include Thorpe Park, Cineworld, and Pizza Express.

Tesco shoppers typically earn one Clubcard point for every £1 spent on groceries, whether they shop in-store or online. Additionally, they can collect a point for every two litres of fuel bought at Tesco petrol stations, or for every £4 charged to a Tesco credit card.

For those looking to boost their points tally, there's an opportunity to bag a whopping 2,500 points by linking an OVO energy account with their Tesco account. While these points are valued at £25, savvy customers could double this to £50 when redeemed through a Tesco Reward Partner.

Despite the allure of the Tesco Clubcard Challenge and its potential for point accumulation, consumer champions at Money Saving Supermarket have cautioned against letting the scheme tempt you into unnecessary spending. They advise shoppers to ponder four critical questions before making a purchase: "Do you need it? Can you afford it? Will you use it? And is it worth it?"
