Sainsbury's clicks and collects
SAINSBURY'S fired the latest shot in the UK's grocery store wars yesterday with the launch of a click-and-collect service.
Sainsbury's aims to have 20 of its stores running the click & collect service in the next two weeks
Its first collection point is in Farnham, Surrey, and the retailer aims to have nearly 20 locations going live in the next fortnight with 100 in the pipeline to deliver the service by the end of 2015.
Rivals Tesco and Asda started their click-and-collect operations several years ago and are now experimenting with non-store collection points such as petrol stations.
Sainsbury's, whose 18-year-old online business generates annual sales of £1billion - 5 per cent of overall turnover - said its collection slots are subject to a minimum £20 spend.
