Supermarket’s Eurovision win
UPMARKET supermarket Waitrose said Eurovision Song Contest fever helped bring some boom-bang-a-bang to sales last week.
The group reported a 42.4 per cent sales hike compared to the same period last year as revellers snapped up Danish pastries, meatballs and chicken kievs for their Eurovision parties. The final day of the Premier League season had also driven demand for frozen pizza, crisps and world beer.
Despite the cold weather sales of barbecue meats rose 37 per cent, dips by 23 and quiches by 17.
