Rolls Royce lands £1bn BA jet contract
ENGINE maker Rolls-Royce yesterday won a £1billion order from British Airways owner IAG to power its new longhaul Airbus A350 fleet.
Rolls-Royce’s Trent XWB engines will be used on 18 British Airways Airbus A350-1000 aircraft from 2017.
The engine is demonstrating outstanding performance.
IAG also placed options for a further 18 A350 aircraft.
Mark King, president of Aerospace, Rolls-Royce said: “The engine is demonstrating outstanding performance.”
IAG chief executive Willie Walsh said the A350 could help it fly to “new destinations profitably”.
