Indian assembly for popular Mini
GERMAN car maker BMW is to start assembling Mini Countrymen models in India to meet rising demand in the country.
The cars will be made at a factory in Chennai where it already makes several BMW models for the local market.
Five of the seven models in the Mini range are made in Britain at plants in Oxford, using engines made in Birmingham and a press shop in Swindon, and two are built in Austria.
There are now five Mini showrooms in India following its launch there last year.
