BCC wants EU law rethink
BRITISH businesses have urged the European Union to stop interfering in employment law and hand power back to Westminster.
According to a survey of over 4,000 businesses by the British Chambers of Commerce, the first since Prime Minister David Cameron said the UK’s relationship with the European Union should be renegotiated, 64 per cent said specific powers should be transferred back.
Companies believe renegotiation will deliver benefits
At the top of the wish-list were employment law, health and safety law and regional development policies. Most of the respondents wanted to remain in the EU believing a full withdrawal could be economically harmful to the UK.
BCC director general John Longworth said: “Companies believe renegotiation will deliver benefits.
Some sort of change is needed.”
