Heathrow lifted by record traffic
RISING transatlantic traffic raised passenger numbers travelling through Heathrow airport to record levels last year, just short of 70million.
December saw 5.6million flyers pass through the airport, an increase of 2 per cent on a year earlier and a new record for the month.
That took the total for 2012 to 69.98million people, a rise of 0.9 per cent, lifted by a 3.2 per cent rise in traffic from the North Atlantic.
The fastest growth was to and from Brazil, with a surge of 21 per cent, followed by China at 5.9 per cent.
