Unilever sells Skippy brand
UNILVER is selling its Skippy peanut butter brand to Hormel Foods, the US maker of Spam processed meat, for £437million.
The sale is part of the Anglo-Dutch group’s strategy of focusing on its fast-growing brands such as Knorr soups, Hellmann’s mayonnaise and Dove soap.
Skippy is the second biggest selling peanut butter in the US after JM Smucker’s Jif and in 2011 generated sales of £190million.
