Eurostar rallies after Olympic lull
EUROSTAR is getting back on the rails after the Olympics took the steam out of its business.
The group, which runs trains between Brussels, London and Paris, said business and leisure travellers were returning after a lull around the Games.
Passenger numbers were 4 per cent higher during the Olympics than a year earlier but before the Games the number of leisure travellers from the Continent to London fell while many firms advised staff to avoid the capital.
Third quarter revenue fell 5 per cent to £188million and passengers were flat at 2.6million.
Chief executive Nicolas Petrovic said the outlook was strong, adding: "We're now seeing a return to more typical travel patterns."
Meanwhile, Eurostar expects the first of a fleet of new trains being built by Germany's Siemens to start running in late 2014.
