Ted Baker weathers problems with snow
STRONG sales of men’s suits and leather handbags ensured fashion group Ted Baker weathered the snow.
The company said sales rose by 7.6 per cent between November and January, with the group pressing ahead with international expansion by opening new stores in Chicago and New York.
Founder and chief executive Ray Kelvin said growth would have been even stronger were it not for the severe weather hindering customers’ ability to get to its shops. The firm enjoyed growth of 8.6 per cent in the three months to November. “Our shops at airports also suffered because they were shut,” he said.
He was confident the firm would hit full-year profit expectations and believed the company was “well placed to deal with the challenges ahead”.
Ted Baker is planning to open new stores in Manchester, Paris and Hong Kong.
