Tui’s summer holiday booking return to pre-pandemic levels
SUMMER holiday bookings are returning to pre-pandemic levels, says Tui.
Pent-up demand is driving Tui's summer sales
The holiday giant's first quarter results for the last three months of 2021 were hit by Omicron, sending winter holiday sales down to 58 percent of pre-Covid levels. But, with travel restrictions lifted, bookings for the summer were at 72 percent of pre-pandemic levels in its first quarter and are now in line with 2019 sales.
Chief financial officer Sebastian Ebel said. "We see the impact of Omicron in the second quarter, but we also see a catch up."
Tui's first quarter losses halved to £326million, while revenues increased fivefold to £2billion.
