Tickets lift-off boosts easyJet
NO-FRILLS airline easyJet boosted hopes that demand for budget air travel was recovering from the slump yesterday with a 5.3 per cent rise in passenger numbers last month.
The Luton-based airline carried 4.42 million passengers in September, up from 4.197 million in the same month a year earlier, while its load factor – a measure of how full its aircraft were – rose 1.2 percentage points to 88.1 per cent.
EasyJet said in July it was gaining business from cost-cutting rivals and from overseas holidaymakers cashing in on the strong euro.
