Go-faster BT to boost broadband
BT is set to boost the speed of its broadband toward 20 megabits per second this summer at no extra cost to its customers.
Customers will have to sign up to a new contract to get the faster speeds, which for many will more than double from the existing 8Mb per second.
About 40 per cent of the population will be able to get the new speeds this summer, rising to 55 per cent by March next year.
BT, with 4.8million customers, is battling growing competition from the likes of Virgin and Carphone Warehouse.
