Food
Always the same or always game?
I’m always trying the latest fad whether it’s veganism, a macrobiotic diet or cutting out wheat and dairy but inevitably I always come back to my natural diet of Coke Zero and Krispy Kreme donuts. I have a very sweet tooth and although I can be good and careful for ages I’ll always falter for a bar of Dairy Milk.
Cooking
Experimental or tried and tested?
I’m no culinary genius but I have a brand new kitchen and I’m going to learn to become a dynamo in it. Experiments are on and the fire department has been duly notified.
I recycle as much as I can and use cloth bags when I do my grocery shopping.
Clothes
M&S or D&G?
In these difficult times everyone is thinking twice about buying designer clothes. I am shopping at M&S online and being grateful for my cupboard of vintage D&G.
Shopping
Until you drop or avoid at all costs?
I have become an internet shopper so after a day chasing my son around I can drop into a chair and shop for everything I need online. I love to browse and can spend hours looking at websites without feeling guilty about not buying anything.
Holidays
Beach or piste?
I am the ultimate beach lover and have desert island fantasies about living with my son among palm and coconut trees, spear fishing and grilling up delicious delicacies from the sea.
Approach to life
Mañana or right now?
Right now. I never waste a minute or let a thought sit in my head too long. Now is the time – this is it.
Friends
Quantity or quality?
Definitely quality as my friends are so important to me. There is nothing I like better than spending quality time with my girlfriends. My best friends have been in my life for 20 years or more and hopefully we will remain together for the next 50 years.
Fitness
Jane Fonda or Jim Royle?
I am Jane Fonda-ish. I have the leg warmers but need to get the programme down. I’ve bought a contour abdominal belt which is a hilarious contraption for the lazy. It shoots electric pulses into your stomach muscles while you watch TV. It seems to be working.
Housekeeping
Aggie & Kim or Wayne & Waynetta?
I’m a bit of a neat freak and need to have everything in its proper place. However these days I’m trying not to clear people’s plates away before they’ve finished eating.
Cars
Boy racer or Sunday driver?
With my son I’m a Sunday driver but on my own I like a bit of speed when I put my foot down so I think of myself as a girl racer.
Property
Urban chic or rural retreat?
Now I have a child I would say rural retreat. I find city life a bit too hectic these days and long for the peace that space, land and light provide. I can’t believe I’m saying it but I’m officially a hillbilly at heart.
Decor
Minimal or cosy?
I don’t like too much clutter but with a child in the house I don’t want the place to appear cold so I have an organised, cosy clutter vibe going on at the moment.
Children
Mary Poppins or Cruella De Vil
Mary Poppins. I believe in the magic of childhood and would love to have many more children but right now chihuahuas are going to have to pick up the slack.
Health
Alternative or aspirin?
In the West I think you have to combine both approaches. Sometimes one works better than the other but I don’t think you can rule out anything that makes you well.
Rubbish
Bin it or recycle it?
I recycle as much as I can and use cloth bags when I do my grocery shopping. We only have one Earth and need to protect it.
Entertainment
Intimate dinner or big bash?
Intimate dinner. I love having time to focus on people. I find big parties overwhelming because you never get to finish a thought before you’re on to the next encounter.
Technology
Gadget girl or technophobe?
I have become fascinated with all things technical. For years I wrote everything by hand and insisted I wasn’t going to let computers take over but then I lost everything I’d ever written. I have since learned to love my computer.
