Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, the actress - who has received outstanding critical acclaim for her performance in the classic play - recalled the awkward incident, which happened at London's National Theatre on Valentine’s Day.
There’s a part of the show where she somewhat gruesomely gets covered in tomato juice - and it seems this was the moment when the patron passed out.
“On Valentine’s night a woman fainted,” she said on the BBC One chat show.
“We were in the middle of the play and someone shouted for a doctor and we just froze on stage in our positions.”

Hedda Gabler has been hugely acclaimed
We were in the middle of the play and someone shouted for a doctor and we just froze on stage in our positions
She added: “We didn’t know what to do.
“It was so bizarre and made me realise what a ridiculous job I do – there I was on all fours with the house lights up, drenched in tomato juice!”
Speaking of the success of the production, she beamed: “It’s a modern take on the play – it’s very physical and active and I get covered in tomato sauce. It’s actually quite wild!”
Whilst on the programme, Wilson also talked about almost being cast opposite Eddie Redmayne.
The production gets very gritty in places
“It didn’t happen because we both have extraordinary looking faces and apparently they would be too weird looking together on screen,” she revealed.
“I was told by the producer that our faces are just too odd to be opposite each other in one frame!”
Elsewhere on tonight's show, Tom Hiddleston spoke about peeing on Tom Hollander.
Hedda Gabler is playing at the National Theatre until the end of March.
