Kids can see Horrible Histories resurrect Awesome Egyptians for summer holidays

Horrible Histories has just confirmed its new spot in London's NEON at Battersea Power Station. The kid-friendly edutainment outfit will be setting up shop within the Ramses and the Pharaohs' Gold exhibition in West London. Here, 'Horrible Histories - Live at the Museum!' invites families to take part in a "thrilling" tour of the priceless Egyptian artefacts, discovered and preserved from thousands of years ago.

Based on the life and times of the great Ramses II, the Horrible Histories event has two distinct parts, beginning with visitors being guided around the items and objects by "Ramses" himself. During this, people of all ages will "journey through the galleries and hear stories from the remarkable reign of Ramses the Great".

During this live adventure, families will be surrounded by more than 189 original Egyptian treasures. This includes the actual coffin of Ramses the Great, as well as the gold mask of Amenemope.

After this jaw-dropping guided exhibition, attendees will witness a "hilarious" live performance. Here, those present will witness the "infamous 'Mummy Rap'" alongside some audience participation, and learn about the step-by-step guide of how pharaohs were turned into mummies.

This new addition to the Ramses and the Pharaohs' Gold exhibition will be unearthed on July 27, 2026, and will run through to Sunday, September 13, 2026.

However, if Egypt isn't what your little ones are interested in, there are plenty more attractions and excitements to enjoy throughout the summer holidays.

Alternatively, there's Dinosaur World Live. Here, attendees can discover a pre-historic world of dinosaurs, meeting creatures and giant reptiles along the way. This includes the mighty T-Rex, a triceratops and more.

With that said, while the Horrible Histories event has not kicked off just yet, there have been plenty of reviews for Ramses and the Pharaohs' Gold on TripAdvisor already.

Judith in particular praised the exhibition. She wrote: "Fabulous exhibition. We stayed 2.5 hours. Really informative for the non-specialist. Beautiful jewellery. Impressive top notch graphics. Lot of exhibits from the Cairo Museum. Also the staff are very pleasant and helpful."

Adele agreed: "Fabulous exhibition. Very easy to hear and see all the artefacts. Very well laid out and a really good atmosphere. The admission slots are just right to allow good uncrowded flow through the different rooms. Lots of benches placed throughout for those with mobility issues. The fee I think is realistic for such an informative exhibition. We arrived via Tube and followed the yellow footprints to the exhibition halls quite easily. We were at the exhibition for around 90 to 120 minutes."

One reviewer pointed out that the VR experience is an extra payment. They wrote: "Advertising shows VR experience. This is an extra payment. You would be better off going to the museum."

With that said, another reviewer couldn't say enough good things about the event: "Ramses II gets a worthy exhibition in London. Like many ancient Egypt related exhibitions that come to the capital this collection has had a bit of a world tour. This has been the best I've seen in recent years with real artefacts from the time of one of Egypt's longest ruling kings. Statues, gold jewellery, mummies and pieces from other kings and dynasties. The VR was definitely worth the £14 extra fee. Some amazing pieces that will end up in the recently opened GEM at Giza when this current tour comes to an end and of course there's a git shop and cafe at the end."
