Demi Lovato ‘overdose’: Heartbreaking relapse song Sober returns to charts
DEMI LOVATO’S heartbreaking recent single Sober has returned to international digital charts amid news of her hospitalisation.
Demi Lovato: I was either craving drugs or on drugs
The US singer sparked huge concern last night when reports emerged of her being rushed to hospital in Los Angeles from her home in Hollywood, from an apparent drugs overdose.
She was reportedly found unconscious in her home and treated with overdose medication Narcan.
Sober was released last month and sees the star saying: “I’m sorry that I’m here again, I promise I’ll get help, it wasn’t my intention, I’m sorry to myself”.
The track has returned to the Top 10 on the US iTunes chart and is at No7 at time of writing.
In the UK it has also been downloaded by fans en masse, and it has returned to No27.
In Australia it is back to No32, and in Canada it’s currently No17.
The track hit headlines back in June as it was Lovato’s first public acknowledgement that her six-year sobriety had ended.
“Call me when it’s over and my self has re-appeared,” she lamented.
The chorus sees her singing: “Mamma, I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore. And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilt on the floor.
“To the ones who never left me, we’ve been down this road before… I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.”
Celebrities have been coming out strongly in support of Lovato since news broke of her hospitalisation last night.
Ariana Grande said simply “i love u @ddlovato”, while Ellen DeGeneres wrote: “I love @DDLovato so much. It breaks my heart that she is going through this. She is a light in this world, and I am sending my love to her and her family.”
Kesha posted: “Love u @ddlovato thinking of you + your family + fans + friends… praying for you and thinking of you.”
Clean Bandit, who recently helped Demi score her first ever UK number one with Solo, said: “We love you Demi @ddlovato. All our thoughts and prayers are with you.”
Lily Allen tweeted: “Poor beautiful spirit @ddlovato I hope she’s ok, and that she makes a full recovery soon.”
In a statement today, Lovato’s family said: “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support.
“Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy.”
A source has told People that she is “stable”.
