This year the iconic music festival is taking a fallow year to give the organisers, land and locals a break.
However all eyes are on Glastonbury 2019 and the favourite band to headline the Pyramid Stage currently aren’t together.
Led Zeppelin haven’t reunited for a gig since the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert at the O2 Arena in London back in 2007.
Nevertheless they are 2/1 to headline Glastonbury next year, but why?
Well this year marks Led Zeppelin’s 50th anniversary and sources claim they’re planning a reunion to celebrate.
According to The Sun, Robert Plant has had discussions with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones about hosting events in London in October.
However the source claims a reunion concert and new album are out of the question.
Nevertheless they’re still the 2/1 favourites for Glastonbury 2019 and the bookies have given a reason why.
A Betway spokesman said: “Emily Eavis has previously spoken about her dream of getting Led Zeppelin to headline Glastonbury, and this year the odds suggest there’s a good chance of that becoming a reality at 2/1.
“Fallow years are always hot for stirring headline rumours and over the last few months punters have begun to latch onto the likes of Fleetwood Mac at 3/1, as well as The Beach Boys and The Stone Roses at 4/1.”
Other hot contenders are Elton John at 5/1, Kendrick Lamar at 6/1 and The Rolling Stones at 10/1.
Meanwhile back in January Plant spoke out on the idea of working with Jimmy Page again.
The 69-year-old spoke to Louisville radio DJ Kyle Meredith on 91.9 WFPK, where he was asked about the idea of working with Page again – either as Page and Plant or Led Zeppelin.
Plant said: “No idea. It’s not even within my countenance to imagine it, really.”
The DJ pointed out how Led Zeppelin is still “dear in the hearts” of their fans.
Plant replied: “Me too – nobody more than me. But I don’t want to do it a disservice either.”
