BRITs 2018 LIVE updates - as it happened: Stormzy wins big, Damon Albarn cut off
BRIT AWARDS 2018 are upon us - who will walk away with the most trophies tonight?
The BRITs: Gary Barlow pays tribute to the Manchester victims
Jack Whitehall is set to host the ceremony, live from London’s O2 Arena.
Dua Lipa leads the nominations, with a record-breaking five; and performances are expected from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Rita Ora and Sam Smith.
Scroll down for the latest live updates - and keep updating this page for more throughout the ceremony, including all the winners.
Stormzy wins big and then performs at the BRIT Awards
22:23: It's a real moment in the room as the phenomenally talented Stormzy bursts into a freshly-created rap - tearing down Theresa May over Grenfell and even referencing Daniel Kaluuya's BAFTAs win.
The crowd is electric - and proof of Stormzy's multiple-BRIT-winning talent. Expect his album sales to skyrocket.
Stormzy wins Album of the Year
22:16: And the top honour of the night, British Album of the Year, goes to Stormzy for Gang Signs And Prayer - and it's a HUGE moment on his table, with huge cheers of joy.
He thanks God as he takes to the stage, and Nile too is absolutely ecstatic.
"We done it," he says. "Gang Signs and Prayer, this was the hardest thing - I've never given my entire being to an album. We made something I feel like is undeniable. I can stand by it - thank you so much."
And he has to dash straight from the podium to the stage to close the show - a remarkable night for one of the biggest music stars of today.
Nile Rodgers presents Album of the Year
22:13: Jack Whitehall jokes about the length of the show and the drunken state of the audience as he welcomes Nile Rodgers to present Album of the Year.
22:04: Now it's Rita Ora's turn to take the stage. Like Sam Smith, she wasn't nominated for any awards - but she's making the most of her time up there, mashing up her hits Your Song, Anywhere and For You.
Liam Payne joins her for his verse on the latter, taken from the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack.
Rita Ora performs at the BRIT Awards
22:01: Jack Whitehall introduces The Voice UK coaches - Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson and Sir Tom Jones - and lambasts the show as he does so. They're handing out British Artist Video of the Year.
This has been decided via Twitter vote - Little Mix have been trending all night, which means they should be up for the win - defeating fellow shortlisted acts Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Zayn with Taylor Swift.
But the winner is Harry Styles - and Jack runs up on stage to accept it on his behalf.
Kendrick Lamar performs in a heavily censored rendition
21:51: What happened there? Kendrick Lamar's performance appeared to stop and start several times before actually properly getting going.
Or was it part of the whole thing? Whatever the case, it was certainly awkward.
Lamar's actual performance, though, is fantastic - even if it does lead ITV censors reaching for the mute button a few times.
Ed Sheeran wins Global Success
21:45: Time for the Global Success Award, the award initially conceived as a Reason To Give One Direction Something a few years ago.
To the surprise of nobody, the recipient this year is Ed Sheeran - as revealed by a video message from Sir Elton John.
21:43: A very good vocal turn from Sam Smith there - who, somewhat awkwardly, was not nominated at all this year.
Gorillaz accept their award
21:35: Time for British Group now, as presented by Luke Evans and Hailey Baldwin. It goes to Gorillaz!
They leave an animated video message - from animated prison - before they come up to the stage in person. This year marks their 20th since forming.
Damon Albarn says: "This country is, believe it or not, quite a small little thing, but it’s a lovely place, and it’s part of a beautiful world. But what I want to say is don’t let it become isolated, don’t let yourselves become cut off.
"Considering our size, we do incredible things in music. We’ve got a real spirit and a real soul and don’t let politics get in the way of all of that s**t."
Jack Whitehall calls it an "Adele moment" as the camera cuts back to him whilst various band members are still trying to speak. Awkwardly it was Blur who were the reason Adele was cut off a few years back - so this is kind of full circle.
Liam Gallagher performs in tribute to the Manchester Arena bombing victims
21:25: Gary Barlow now pays tribute to the victims of the Macnchester Arena bombing - a job Ariana Grande sadly had to pull out of, reportedly due to illness in the USA leaving her unable to fly.
"Lives changed irreparably forever," Barlow says. "A few weeks later, Ariana returned to the city to host the One Love Manchester concert, helping the families and survivors of the tragedy. It was an event that epitomised the human spirit, that showed hate will never win and fear will never divide us."
He introduces Liam Gallagher to the stage to perform Live Forever in tribute.
Lorde takes International Female
21:22: Now it's time for International Female Solo Artist, which goes to Lorde!
She isn't in the room but she says via message: "Oh hello, it's you - the BRIT Awards! i am so, so incredibly honoured to be this year's recipient for Best International Female."
She reels off the usual thank-yous, but with that bouncy personality we love.
Dua Lipa nets her second prize of the night
21:17: Next up, it's British Breakthrough Act - as voted for Radio 1 listeners. Could be a second win for Dua Lipa here.
And the winner is... Dua Lipa!
That's two prizes for the true breakout star of 2017. She did earn some success in 2016, but it's over the last twelve months that she's really found a wider audience.
She's brought a couple of kids on stage with her - it's her little brother and sister! "The reason I did this... at the bottom of my album, I told them to believe in magic... and I wanted them to experience it first-hand," she explains.
BRITs 2018: All the action from the night
21:12: We're back now with Foo Fighters performing atop some kind of makeshift hut at a ski resort.
21:02: Now Harry Kane and Camila Cabello present Best International Male Solo Artist.
After some awkward banter about switching careers, they announce the winner as Kendrick Lamar!
The superstar rapper is all smiles as he takes to the podium. He thanks the radio stations and label execs who have helped him break the UK.
Rag'n'Bone Man accepts British Single
Dermot O'Leary and Emma Willis return
20:57: Last year's hosts Dermot O'Leary and Emma Willis are up to present Best British Single, which nominates the ten best-selling British songs of the last year. With one important twist: Ed Sheeran can't have more than one nomination, despite technically being eligible multiple times.
And the prize goes to Rag'n'Bone Man's Human.
He swears at the end of his speech, leading censors to rush for the Mute button.
20:53: And now for an emotionally-charged performance from Ed Sheeran.
This is one of the few songs(!) from Divide that hasn't topped the charts yet. Given its sheer emotional value, could this be next?
As the performance finishes, he's got tears in his eyes and the crowd howling their approval. Even Jack Whitehall is moved!
Ed Sheeran performs Supermarket Flowers
Dua Lipa performs
20:44: Dua Lipa's time to prove why she's the most-nominated solo female in BRITs history.
And she's been ready in more ways than one - BBC Entertainment News tweeted: "Poor old Dua Lipa was lying prostrate on that platform for the entirety of Dave Grohl's speech. That's dedication."
What a performance it is, too: high energy, great vocals, great staging. Best of the night so far?
Foo Fighters win International Group
20:39: Over to Best International Group now. And the prize goes to Foo Fighters!
20:37: Jamie Laing from Made In Chelsea did NOT appreciate the jibes from Jack Whitehall there, did he?
And Jack resting his hand on his head only seemed to infuriate him further.
Was that part of the joke? Or is Jack no longer welcome in Chelsea?! Given that Jamie and Jack appear to be very close friends... it seems a safe bet that it was all in good fun.
Stormzy accepts his BRIT Award
20:31: Best British Male Solo Artist belongs to Stormzy!
Are things looking very good for him beating Ed Sheeran to Best Album later tonight?
He collaborated with Little Mix last year, so collecting the prize from them feels all the more special.
Jorja Smith performs after winning Critics' Choice
BRIT Awards: Jack Whitehall makes Twitter joke about Olly Murs
20:29: An eviscerating Olly Murs dig from Jack Whitehall (a controlled fire during Rag'n'Bone Man's performance prompted a reminder of Olly's famous Oxford Circus panic-tweeting), and it's off to Little Mix to give out British Male Solo Artist. Could this be Ed Sheeran?
20:24: Now the Critics' Choice winner Jorja Smith will perform with last year's champion Rag'n'Bone Man.
Interestingly, the latter beat Dua Lipa in that category last year. Despite all his success, did BRITs voters perhaps get that one wrong?
Whatever the case, everybody seems to have done pretty well for themselves. And now it's over to Jorja to conquer 2018.
Dua Lipa wins her first BRIT Award
20:18: Dua sounds a bit emotional as she accepts her first ever gong. She takes a moment to thank the female artists who've paved the way for her.
20:16: Best British Female Solo Artist is an interesting one - the most obvious winner is pop sensation Dua Lipa; the first of five fields she's nominated for tonight.
And the winner is... Dua Lipa!
Could this be a VERY lucrative night for her?
Jack Whitehall throws shade at the BRITs guests
Justin Timberlake takes to the stage
20:10: Jack Whitehall just launched things properly with hilarious digs at both Ed Sheeran (who will perform "as long as he doesn't do Gallway Girl"), and Sam Smith ("for people who find Adele too upbeat").
The room is laughing - including Sheeran and Smith themselves. So at least it's been taken in good spirits.
There's also a dig at the shortlisted five nominees for the Best British Video - which, he said, "is wide open... [it] could literally be won by any former members of the band One Direction".
Now it's over to Kylie Minogue and Millie Bobby Brown to present British Female Solo Artist.
20:06: Justin Timberlake launched the night with a high-octane number but he's stripped things back - introducing Chris Stapleton to the stage for the song Say Something.
It's the best-loved track from his generally shrugged-upon new album Man Of The Woods, and it's going down reasonably well with the audience in the room.
Not exactly an all-guns-blazing start to the show, but - and this won't happen much tonight - it's nicely restrained.
Jack Whitehall launches the show
20:02: Jack Whitehall sort-of-performing Man's Not Hot is certainly an interesting way to open events tonight.
He shuffles on-stage in a HUGE jacket to introduce Justin Timberlake as the night's first performer.
20:00 We're about to begin - catch up on the red carpet action and more here.
All the nominees can be found right here, too.
The BRIT Awards will be airing on ITV in a matter of seconds.
