LISTEN: Niall Horan sounds like Ed Sheeran and Passenger with first solo single This Town
NIALL HORAN releases his first solo single This Town, sounding more like Ed Sheeran and Passenger than One Direction.
Niall has released his first solo single
Following wide spread rumours of a release today, the musician shared the track as a tribute to his fans on his Twitter account.
He wrote: “Been working in the studio, wanted to share this song I just wrote with you guys. Thank you for always being there.”
In a black and white VEVO music video, Niall sings the new song while strumming along on an acoustic guitar.
Niall Horan's first solo single has been confirmed as This Town on Twitter
The news was teased by a miss timed Tweet from the House of Mouse earlier today.
Radio Disney tweeted: “SURPRISE! Listen to Radio Disney RIGHT NOW to hear @NiallOfficial’s brand new song #ThisTown!
“And stay tuned to hear from Niall.”
Radio Disney have since deleted the tweet
A solo account for Niall has appeared on Spotify
Despite a huge outpouring of fan excitement on the social media site, the tweet was suddenly deleted.
Fans have been in a frenzy using the now trending hashtag #ThisTown.
One said: “I’m still recovering from Harry’s photoshoot then THIS I’M SHOOK I’M NOT YET READY #ThisTown.”

Another tweeted: “But I can't wait for solo Niall. I really can't wait. I'M SO EXCITED! SO DAMN EXCITED! I CAN'T WAIT HOW IT SOUNDS! #ThisTown.”
While one posted a picture of Scrubs character’s fainting with the words: “Me being excited for #ThisTown but then realising that I don’t know if I'm ready for this.”
With a newly formed solo artist page on Spotify, the song is now available for subscribers to listen.
The news comes in the wake of band’s solo deals and confusion over a One Direction reunion.
Last week the Future Events section of the band’s official website briefly reappeared only to be deleted again.
While it’s unlikely they’ll be going back on their solo deals, especially with the release of Niall’s This Town solo, the news of Future Events could be their final goodbye tour.
