Up for sale: the Beatles before Ringo
IT’S one of the earliest photos of The Beatles – taken in 1961 at Liverpool’s Cavern Club – and it will be auctioned later this month along with other newly discovered pictures of the band at the start of their career.
Stephen Bailey, manager of Liverpool’s The Beatles Shop, said other items include negatives of the group brought in by a man whose father was a professional photographer
The photo, expected to sell for £1,500, is one of few showing Pete Best on drums – a year before he was replaced by Ringo Starr.
Stephen Bailey, manager of Liverpool’s The Beatles Shop, said other items include negatives of the group brought in by a man whose father was a professional photographer.
Mr Bailey said the sale, on August 23 at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, will also feature rare copies of Merseybeat magazine, published in 1961.
