CD Review: Petula Clark - Lost In You
MORE than 60 years since her debut Petula Clark is still kicking serious butt with a new album that’s fresh and modern without ever sounding like she’s trying too hard.
Cut Copy Me is strange and hypnotic, Lost In You a spare, almost Adele-like love song while her version of Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy shows her voice has a new depth and, yes, sexiness.
A new version of her hit Downtown is somewhere between a ballad and a hymn, while a cover of Elvis’s Love Me Tender as a children’s lullaby really sends shivers where it matters.
