Album review - Donovan: Sunshine Superman (EMI)
Listening to this re-release of an album Donovan made when just 20, you can’t help but wonder why the pioneer of psychedelic music is not a bigger name in the pantheon of Sixties rock icons.
Ground-breaking and strange it’s not only a beautiful relic of its time, in which you can almost smell the joss sticks but also sounds strangely fresh and new with its sitars, Donovan’s really rather lovely voice and of course some psychedelic guitar.
Bonus tracks and some light remastering create a delightful blast from the past.
Verdict: 4/5
