Rina Sawayama 'calls out' Matty Healy over podcast controversy
Glastonbury Festival 2023 fans looked on as Rina Sawayama slammed a "white man" for "owning her masters".
Glastonbury: Rina Sawayama appears to hit out at Matty Healy
Last night Japanese-British pop star Rina Sawayama hit the Woodsies Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2023.
The singer was about to play her vicious track STFU! as she went on a rant about someone in her life.
She crouched down and growled into her microphone: "I wrote this because I was sick and tired of these micro-aggressions. Tonight, this goes out to a white man that watches Ghetto Gaggers, and mocks Asian people on a podcast."
Rina was allegedly referring to The 1975's singer, Matty Healy, who previously admitted to getting caught watching X-rated videos on a TV.
Speaking on The Adam Friedland Podcast, Healy said: "I think it literally was something like Ghetto Gaggers on the TV. Someone is just like getting brutalised…" (Via Unilad)
During the same podcast, Matty also "did a derogatory impression of a Japanese accent" after talking about pop star Ice Spice. (Via The Independent)
If that wasn't enough from Rina, she added: "He also owns my masters. I’ve had enough."
This is in reference to the master files of her music, which are presumably owned by her record label, Dirty Hit.

Rina is on Dirty Hit Records alongside The 1975.
Matty was previously director of the company's parent company, Dirty Hit Limited, from 2018 to April 2023.
He has since stepped down from the role, but is reportedly still a shareholder.
Matty later apologised for his comments at a show in New Zealand, according to Rolling Stone.
"I just feel a bit bad," he told fans. "And I’m kind of a bit sorry if I’ve offended you."
Addressing her directly, he added: "Ice Spice, I’m sorry. It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It’s because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a dick. I love you, Ice Spice. I’m so sorry."
