Brian May addresses controversy over album promo
Brian May wrote Queen song Who Wants To Live Forever for the band’s iconic A Kind of Magic album back in 1986. The track famously featured on the soundtrack for immortal movie Highlander too. And now, the 74-year-old has put the song to a stunning animation calling for climate action to protect wildlife around the world.
COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference, is currently taking place in Glasgow, Scotland this week.
So Brian May has released the new music video via his Save Me Trust, which aims to give animals a voice, calling on world leaders to take climate action and protect wildlife.
In a statement, the Queen guitarist said: “This incredible video created by students from all five continents shows the devastation our precious planet faces.
“On a 24 hour clock humans arrived here at just two seconds to midnight yet we have unleashed immense damage and destruction on the natural world.”

Brian continued: “Advancing our needs has pushed mother nature to the brink. Species reaching extinction at a thousand times faster than at any other time in our history.
“World leaders are meeting at the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP26) and it is essential they take heed and take actions NOW.
“No if’s, no buts, we are at a tipping point that we cannot ignore! The world is watching COP26 for immediate action and solutions today our government must deliver.”
The video opens with a quote by the rock star saying how he’d most like his legacy to be of animal rights campaigning than his music.
Brian said: “I’d rather be remembered for saving animals. When I’m gone, people will no doubt remember me for Queen.
“But I would much rather be remembered for attempting to change the way we treat our fellow creatures.”
The beautiful animation directed by Matteo Valenti opens with foxes being hunted in Europe before switching to rhino horn poaching in Africa.
Scenes also see birds being affected by plastic and oil spills in the oceans of North America, animals fleeing wildfires in Australia and whale hunting in Asia.
