John Lewis and Milt Jackson have the feel-good factor
Pianist John Lewis and vibraphonist Milt Jackson led the MJQ, originally the rhythmic lynch pin of Dizzy Gillespie's orchestra of the Forties.
The quartet had a feel-good factor difficult to match in modern jazz: light, bluesy and swinging.
The MJQ were consumate entertainers, a bridge between middle America and more complex jazzmen such as Miles Davis and Charlie Mingus.
Two discs feature the celebrated Bag's Groove, Django and De Capo, vintage live cuts and select album tracks.
