In a statement, Beckham said: “Being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish my girls so much love and fun as they go back on tour, I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!”
Speaking on Heart Radio this morning, Emma Bunton had confirmed the details would be expected this afternoon.
"It's so exciting," she said. "Everything will be announced just after three o'clock today on social media."
Mel B also spoke out on Loose Women, on which she was a guest panelist.
“Yeah we are [getting back together]. Very excited," she said. “It must be nearly five, six months now [I’ve had to keep it secret].
“All the wheels are in motion. Our tickets go on sale on Friday [it's actually Saturday]. Was I meant to say that?”
She added: “Pressure’s on now. Hopefully you’re going to buy some tickets and come and see us.”
Mel said of the line-up: “It’s just the four us that’s fully confirmed. But you know, Vic [Victoria Beckham] might join us at some point. I hope so. I think it would be a shame if she didn’t, do you know what I mean?”
Asked why Victoria isn’t taking part, she said: “I don’t know, let’s ask her. She’s got a full-on life with all of her work commitments and her fashion and her kids. She’s just kind of not committing just yet. I’m hoping it’s going to change, but definitely us four.”
A source told The Sun: “Girl power is back."
"This is the biggest music comeback of the decade and tickets are expected to sell like hot cakes when they go on sale at the weekend.”
The quartet are expected on The Jonathan Ross Show this weekend to promote their comeback, after their appearance was momentarily leaked on the ITV website last week.
The Spice Girls were last together on stage in 2012 for the Olympics closing ceremony, although they haven’t toured since 2008.
That particular reunion fell several years after they went on long-term hiatus following the release of their third and final studio album Forever.
They had been a four-piece since 1998 when Horner, then Halliwell, called it quits and launched a hugely successful and record-breaking solo career.
The Look At Me singer eventually returned to the fold for the 2007 and 2008 jaunt.
The Spice Girls are one of the most iconic music acts of all time - with hits such as Wannabe, Say You’ll Be There, 2 Become 1, Spice Up Your Life and Viva Forever.

They scored three consecutive Christmas Number Ones, and even made a foray into movie-making with their hit comedy Spice World.
Mel B has been the most vocal about these new plans, and last week she appeared to plead with Beckham to join the tour - via a Halloween costume.
Each of the five members has had some success as a solo artist, with Melanie C still recording, releasing and performing her own material today.
Mel has indicated that Victoria could still change her mind.
