ORIGINAL: Steam users could soon be picking up some great money saving deals in the Black Friday 2017 sale.
Valve’s market leading digital distribution service for PC gamers is expected to launch Black Friday 2017 deals around 6pm GMT.
However, the Steam sale won’t be called a Black Friday 2017 event - despite it happening around the same time as the major period of discounts.
Instead, the Steam Black Friday 2017 sale is expected to be called the autumn sale.
While Valve don’t officially reveal when the next Steam sale is coming along, there are a number of things pointing towards a launch day.
In October Kotaku UK reported that the Steam autumn sale would be launching just a few days before Black Friday 2017.
They reported that the Steam autumn sale would launch on November 22 2017 at 6pm GMT.
The major gaming website added that the sale is expected to start and end around 6pm UK time.
While whenisthenextsteamsale.com is currently running a countdown till the next Steam sale.
Their countdown says the Steam autumn sale, taking place two days before Black Friday 2017, will start at 6pm GMT today.
Describing how they calculate when the next Steam sale will launch, the website said: “Valve never announces Steam sale dates up front, but Steam sales return every year in a relatively stable frequency.
“Based on data from the last few years, the upcoming sale dates are predicted.
“These predictions are a combination of the following factors: dates and months in which a sales started, which day of the week a sale usually starts
Playstation reveals which games are discounted for Black Friday
"How long a sale usually lasts, what dates/events a sale generally hits, times are based on the East Pacific time zone.”
“Furthermore the dates are updated every now and then when there is more information in recent news.
“As you can see there are multiple sources to find out when a sale will most likely start.”
The last Steam sale was the Steam Halloween sale, and before that there was the Steam summer sale.
Deals in the Steam Halloween sale included money off Doom, Dead By Daylight, Friday the 13th: The Game, Inside, Prey and Amnesia Collection.
When is Black Friday?
Black Friday, which takes place on the day after Thanksgiving, falls on November 24 this year.
Many deals will appear online as soon as the clock strikes midnight, while a majority of UK’s high street retailers will open at 6am.
The shopping bonanza will last all weekend, and is followed by Black Friday’s online equivalent Cyber Monday on November 27.
