Red Dead Redemption 2 announced with release date and trailer
Red Dead Redemption 2 has been officially announced by Rockstar Games.
Rockstar Games confirmed that its highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption sequel will be released in autumn 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One. It's bad news for PC and Nintendo NX, however, because Red Dead Redemption 2 has not been confirmed for these platforms.
Red Dead Redemption 2's exact release date could be revealed alongside the new trailer, which lands on Thursday, October 20 at 4pm UK time.
The game will also support online multiplayer, although gameplay details are yet to be revealed.
"Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland," reads a Rockstar Games statement.
“The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience."
Rockstar has been teasing the announcement of a brand new Red Dead Redemption video game since the weekend.
It began with a red logo on the Rockstar Games social media channels, followed by a confirmation image of seven outlaws in front of a setting sun.

Based on the teaser image, fans are speculating that the new Red Dead Redemption will be a Magnificent Seven-style prequel featuring Bill Williamson, John Marston and the rest of the Williamson Gang.
It's unclear if John Marston voice actor Rob Wiethoff will return, however, because he hasn't pursued many acting roles since the original game and its Undead Nightmare DLC.
Red Dead Redemption 2 rumours have been rife this year, with one source recently claiming that a HD remake of the original Red Dead Redemption would launch alongside a sequel.
Rockstar parent company Take-Two previously said that the GTA 5 studio was working on new projects.
"Rockstar Games is of course hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon," Take-Two said.
According to a leaked Red Dead Redemption 2 map, the new game will feature some of the same locations as its predecessor, as well as new locations further to the east.
In the meantime, Xbox One owners can check out Red Dead Redemption, which became backwards compatible earlier this year.
