Fallout 4 mods were recently cancelled on PS4, after Sony and Bethesda failed to come to an agreement about how they would be implemented.
However, some fans have accused Bethesda of signing an exclusivity deal with Microsoft and then pinning the blame on Sony.
Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines has categorically denied the accusations, telling fans that the studio wanted to release PS4 mods some time ago.
"That is absolutely not true," he said, after being accused of having an exclusivity deal with Microsoft. "We would have released mods on PS4 some time ago if it was up to us. We were told no."

Bethesda has since said that it is trying to bring mods to PS4 versions of Skyrim and Fallout 4 in some form, although the company has failed to go into specifics.
Hines told one Twitter follower: "We can't get into specifics. We still want to get mod support of some kind out on PS4."
Asked what he meant by some kind of mod support, Hines replied: "I'm not going to guess at what it might look like."
Hines also ruled out future DLC for Fallout 4, which just received the Nuka-World expansion.
