Captain Underpants review: DreamWorks' new double-edged comedy animation
SCHOOL is out for the summer, the children are delirious and parents are already looking forward to September.
Captain Underpants has enough to keep little ones laughing and parents from nodding off
CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS (U, 89 mins) Director: David Soren Stars: Kevin Hart, Ed Helms, Thomas Middleditch, Nick Kroll
Thankfully DreamWorks is about to step in with 89 minutes of double-edged comedy animation.
Based on a 12-book series by Dav Pilkey, Captain Underpants follows pint-sized pranksters George (Kevin Hart) and Harold (Thomas Middleditch) as they turn the tables on their mean-spirited headmaster.
They hypnotise him into thinking he’s the hero of their self-penned comic books – a Y-front clad crimefighter – after he confiscates them. It’s not a classic DreamWorks film but there’s enough here to keep little ones laughing and parents from nodding off.
