Beauty and the Beast live action film will not be your guest with TERRIBLE first reviews
BEAUTY and the Beast’s live action film of the classic fairy tale has received terrible first reviews.
Vincent Cassel plays the Beast
A tale as old as time it may be, but this French remake has failed to charm the critics with a shocking 14% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
Originally released in France back in 2014, La Belle et La Bete has a limited UK release this month.
Starring Vincent Cassel as the Beast and Bond girl Lea Seydoux as Belle, this adaption is a remake of the 1946 classic of the same name.
Tied more to the original French fairy tale than the Disney musical, the reviews of this fantasy adventure are truly beastly.
The film is a remake of 1946's Le Belle et La Bete
HeyUGuys said: “Beauty and the Beast is one of the great, traditional love stories.
“This film simply feels devoid of any such romanticism, with no chemistry or spark between our protagonists of any kind.”
Movie Mezzanine said: “Beauty and the Beast is sad, ridiculous and of little imagination.”
Den of Geek said: “It has a breathtaking ornamentation, like a dazzlingly decorated storybook cover.
“But once opened, you realise the pages of romantic prose are few and far between.”
Slant Magazine said: “Christophe Gans's telling of Beauty and the Beast abounds in impersonal and unsatisfying sumptuousness.”
Consequence of Sound said: “While Christophe Gans is a visual master, his vision of Beauty and the Beast is more thorn than rose.”
The only recorded positive review came from JoBlo’s Movie Emporium.
They said: “It may not be the most splendid version, but there is certainly beauty in this beast.”

With such poor reception, it’s all up to Emma Watson and Dan Stevens to shine in next year’s live action adaption of the animated Disney version.
This month also marks the 25th anniversary of the Oscar-nominated classic.
Paige O’Hara, who played Belle in the cartoon, recently praised the casting choice of Watson.

Emma Watson and Dan Stevens will star in Disney's live action remake next year
She said: “I think that if I were producing that movie, Emma Watson would've been my first choice for Belle.
“I was just really happy they went with Emma. She's got the intelligence, she's got the humour.
“I think she's going to be really, really special.”
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will be released in UK cinemas on March 17, 2017.
