PARAMEDICS were called to treat members of an audience at a screening of a new feminist cannibal film Raw.
What’s on at Toronto Film Festival
A number of cinema-goers passed out while watching the French film, which tells the story of a vegetarian college student who is turning into a cannibal.
Ryan Werner, who was running the movie’s marketing at the Toronto Film Festival screening said paramedics had to be called.
“The film became too much for a couple patrons," he explained.
“An ambulance had to be called to the scene as the film became too much for a couple patrons.”

Other attendees of the film festival reported other details on Twitter.
One tweeted: “Slow clap for French coming-of-age cannibal flick RAW, which in addition to being a good film was so gross the paramedics got called twice," while another wrote: “Also. People may have passed out and/or vomited from how intense Raw was. What a movie.”
Werner confirmed the only other time a film had had this sort of physical reaction was Lars von Trier’s Antichrist.
The film was directed by Julia Ducournau and won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
Before the screening Julia expressed she was keen to see the audience’s reaction.

The director said: “I want to hear this particular audience reacting. I want to see where they will be reacting. I am very curious.
“It’s like being judged by my peers, because myself, I am a huge genre and horror buff.”
Raw will be released in UK cinemas on March 15, 2017.
