The Super Mario Galaxy Movie official trailer
Two years ago, The Super Mario Bros Movie dominated the box office, raking in over $1.3 billion.
The CG-animated Nintendo adventure starring Chris Pratt as the Italian plumber and Jack Black as Bowser has a long-awaited sequel, arriving in cinemas next year.
Originally rumoured to be called Super Mario World, the actual title has today been revealed in the first-look teaser trailer for what is Super Mario Bros Movie 2.
Opening with Mario sleeping under a tree, the camera zooms through the Mushroom Kingdom before lifting off up into outer space.
The title of the long-awaited Nintendo sequel is then unveiled as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, with the video game’s iconic theme playing and a Luma star appearing.
The new film, which features a returning all-star voice cast, will presumably see the characters heading off into outer space for gravity-defying adventures. Nintendo fans will know this title is inspired by the two Mario Galaxy video games on Wii, which release in 2007 and 2010 respectively, and which are getting a Nintendo Switch 2 re-release this October.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will release in cinemas on April 3, 2026.
