GLOW KIDS by Nicholas Kardaras
St Martin’s, £12.99
My school report when I was 11 said: “This boy wants to know everything.”
I’m curious about how the world works.
This book examines what the small, bright screen that we hold continuously is doing to our brains.
People walk along checking their phone and miss a great deal of real life, which disturbs me.

THE HUNT FOR ZERO POINT by Nick Cook
Arrow, £9.99
I’ve been a friend of Nick’s for several years and in this he traces the history of anti-gravity technology.
He asks why the military can’t investigate a new form of energy that would stop this insane oil-based economy.

THE SIXTH EXTINCTION by Elizabeth Kolbert
Bloomsbury, £10.99
This traces the past five extinctions and tells us about the next one – us.
There’s only so much stuff that the planet contains and we’re slowly removing it.
Stephen Hawking said we’ve got maybe 1,000 years.

HOW THE IRISH SAVED CIVILIZATION by Thomas Cahill
Author Michael Wolff taunts Trump for helping 'sell books'
Out of print Pierce Brosnan turned me on to this.
If medieval Irish priests had not copied and saved the great books, it may have taken centuries more to come out of the Dark Ages.
One of the energies propelling us out was information.
So it’s difficult to understand why we repeat the mistakes of history.

POWER ON EARTH by Nick Tosches
Out of print Based on interviews with Michele Sindona, a shadowy figure from Italy, this book exposes the criminality in the financial world.
Tosches says the world’s money is controlled by three power centres: the International Monetary Fund; the Vatican; and the Mafia.

THE TWILIGHT OF AMERICAN CULTURE by Morris Berman
Out of print This describes how the American empire is slowly exhibiting many of the reasons that past empires failed, such as the destruction of the language and the financial and religious pillars of society.
The United States’ main problem is Trump. He is taking the country back decades.
