GAME OF THRONES mastermind George RR Martin has spoken out on whether or not there are any political messages in the Song Of Ice and Fire series.

The US writer penned the smash hit novels, with the sixth - Winds of Winter - currently in the pipeline.
In an interview with North America’s Metro, he spoke out on speculation on whether there is any political subtext to his work.
The short answer? No.
“Seven kingdoms are trying to untie against a common enemy - White Walkers, but this is not an allegory,” he confirmed.

“If I wanted to write about the real world, I would have done it.”
This was the same interview in which Martin also spoke out on Hollywood bosses offering to turn his works into a movie series.
This was, of course, before HBO came along and created a TV phenomenon.
"They asked me about a possible adaptation," he recalled.

Game of Thrones’ seventh season concluded last night. Winds of Winter does not currently have a release date.
