Harry Potter SHOCK: Major study says most British people would be sorted into THIS house
HARRY POTTER landed into the public consciousness 20 years ago today - and a big new survey has been taken in celebration.
Harry Potter: Which house are most Brits in?
JK Rowling’s first book in the series - Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone - came out on June 26, 1997.
Now, a huge new YouGov study of 2,077 British adults has discovered which Hogwarts house the majority of Brits would be sorted into.
Those sampled were asked which values they most identify with; with each set attributable to one house.
The options were “courage, bravery, nerve and chivalry”, “hard work, patience, justice and loyalty”, “intelligence, creativity, learning and wit” and “ambition, cunning, leadership and resourcefulness”.

It was the second cluster of values which drew the most attention - appealing to 54% of those surveyed.
And the house it matches up to is Hufflepuff.
Ravenclaw (the third set of values) amassed 36% of votes, while Slytherin (the fourth set) got 5% and Gryffindor, surprisingly, got only 4%.
Gryffindor - which takes most prominence in the wizarding series - was the “courage, bravery, nerve and chivalry” option.

Elsewhere in the same study, Hermione Granger - played by Emma Watson in the films - was named Potter fans’ favourite character.
27% of 1,064 participants picked her as one of their three favourite characters.
Other highlights were Albus Dumbledore (25%), Potter himself (25%) and Dobby the Elf (21%).
