Bill Bailey steers clear of offensive jokes
DON’T expect any off-colour jokes from Bill Bailey. The comic says that deliberately offensive comics like Frankie Boyle have persuaded him to rethink his own comedic approach.
Speaking at the Hollywood Costume Exhibition Gala held at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the 48-year-old told us: “People do try deliberate provocation to get attention. I try to make the subjects about comedy that are interesting, not traditional ones. There are so many you don’t need to wind people up to have a laugh.
“You can make jokes about absolutely anything providing you are careful. There are crude, vulgar ways of getting a
laugh and there are more refined ways.”
