Gareth Malone's choir in Brit triumph
GARETH Malone and his choir of Military Wives took home the prize of Single Of The Year at the Classic Brit awards on Tuesday night and he tells Day & Night that the success of his choir has knocked him for six.
“I had to take August off I’m so drained,” Gareth, near right, 37, admitted.
“I’d like to give them more complicated musical pieces to learn. I’ll be spending Christmas thinking up something mean.”
And opera singer Russell Watson, far right, performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the ceremony and tells us his
health remains a priority following two operations to remove brain tumours.
“I’ve been five years without any problems. I’m a happy boy and so pleased to be here,” says Russell, 45.
“I’m very excited as it’s been a long time since I’ve been here. Whenever I walk out on the stage and the light hits
my face it’s always the best. I’m never flippant about what I’m doing.

"My voice techniques are pretty stringent and I practise every day. On a day like this I’ll be vocalising all day.”
Interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, 47, and his wife Jackie brought some glamour to the event with matching gold outfits.
“It’s a little early for panto but we thought what the hell?” he said.
“Jackie has had the dress for a while and I found this gold dinner jacket and I thought, ‘There we are. What a wonderful thing to wear in a recession.’”
