Gillian Anderson abandons role as Martha Gellhorn
WEEKS after we reported that Gillian Anderson and Nicole Kidman were to play war correspondent Martha Gellhorn in rival movies, the X Files actress reveals she is abandoning her project.
Gillian, 41, had been planning a film about Gellhorn, third wife of Ernest Hemingway, for two years but has met obstacles when attempting to get it off the ground.
Nicole is on board for rival movie Hemingway & Gellhorn, with British actor Clive Owen as the writer and adventurer. Gillian has pulled her project – and says it is her own fault for procrastinating.
She says: “The sad news is I have to let go of Gellhorn as HBO is doing the exact story with Nicole and Clive Owen.
“But these things happen and I was taking too long getting the script right and it’s my own damned fault.”
