A majestic pay deal
AS The Queen uses her own money to balance the books, we hear that Buckingham Palace staff have voted to accept a 2 per cent pay rise.
Her Majesty’s offer will add to the monarch’s £15.2million taxpayer-funded wage bill at a time when her advisers argue she needs more cash.
Alex Flynn, spokesman for the PCS union representing palace aides, concedes they have got a better deal than many. “At the Home Office you are looking at 1.5 per cent at most,” he says.
