Are police criminally under-staffed?
A DRIVE is being launched to recruit an army of civilian volunteers to tackle crime in rural areas and halt police station closures.
MPs want to see a recruitment campaign aimed at retired folk with time on their hands to be the “eyes and ears” of hard-pressed police.
They believe a “Dad’s Army” could help drive down crime rates and inject a new sense of community spirit throughout Britain’s small towns and villages.
