Government must make most of border controls
WHEN David Cameron pledged to reduce annual net migration to the “tens of thousands”, it was a ridiculous promise to make.
Theresa May: I have taken this decision in national interest
Stuck inside the EU and with no way to control the arrival of people from other member states, there was nothing he could feasibly do to deliver on this promise.
The fact that on his watch net migration reached record levels is proof enough of the folly of this commitment.
However, after Brexit things will be different. Theresa May has promised to win back control over our borders.
Theresa May has promised to win back control over our borders
This cannot happen soon enough and when it does our immigration policy will finally be decided in Westminster once again.
That means returning power to our politicians and giving them the chance to radically reduce immigration.
But winning back the right to control our borders is not enough. We also need a government willing to make the most of this power.
That is why the Conservatives have to make sure that their manifesto once again promises to reduce net migration to the “tens of thousands”.
With Labour, the Lib Dems and the SNP all wedded to open borders, it is up to the Tories to stand up for all those who want Brexit to mean the end of mass migration.

Find EU cash elsewhere
The attempts by Brussels officials to justify demanding an enormous Brexit bill are getting more desperate with each passing week.
The reality is that we have been bankrolling the European project for decades. The Eurocrats need to face up to just how much we have done for them over the years.
As one of a tiny number of net contributors, it was British taxes that funded their programmes, built their fancy offices and paid the legions of functionaries and bureaucrats.
The Prime Minister must be firm and make clear that we will not be funding the EU any longer. They will now have to find their money elsewhere

Farron’s fishing for votes
After a successful campaign to raise the £500 deposit, Mr Fish Finger will now be on the ballot there come June 8.
Flakey, fishy and widely regarded as a joke candidate, Farron is nevertheless expected to hold the seat.
