CLEARLY a few people chained to a car are not going to persuade supporters of a third runway at Heathrow to change their minds.

As such, yesterday’s so-called protest was not a genuine bid to affect political change.
Instead, it was nothing more than a bunch of spoilt attention seekers showing off to their fellow eco-warriors.
For all the moralising from those involved their actions were deeply selfish.

If Britain were a land governed by common sense, the police would have been out there in minutes with bolt cutters and a recovery lorry.

Most officers would relish the opportunity to serve the public by dragging the protesters away and impounding the vehicle.
The great majority of British people would applaud them for it.
