Politicians still don't get it
FAR too many of our politicians still don’t get it.
Despite justified public outrage over the expenses scandal some MPs maintain an absurd sense of entitlement.
Labour MP Jim McGovern recently tried to claim for a train fare of £24.
His demand was rejected as the trip was deemed to be for party political purposes rather than Parliamentary work.
Instead of accepting this Mr McGovern became embroiled in a ridiculous, unsuccessful legal action which cost the taxpayer £27,000.
At a time when most people face falling living standards and job insecurity, his apparent pettiness and contempt for public money is a worrying sign that the culture of self-interest still prevails in parts of Westminster.
