Ryder Cup a truly great tournament
WHEN the heavens opened above Celtic Manor some golf fans were probably left doubting the wisdom of holding the Ryder Cup in Wales in October. But the spine-tingling contest that unfolded will surely come to be regarded as among the finest in the history of the tournament. Amid the European celebrations, the role played by a fiercely competitive American team should also be recognised.
No quarter was asked for or given in a fabulous sporting contest that enhanced the reputations of all those who took part.
